The advice I would give to other writers is that the true quality of a work is more closely associated with the clarity with which the writer exposes himself to the world through his or her characters and their experiences than by meeting any predetermined set of guidelines. Another piece of advice I would give to other writers is that good writing is not a product of a single event or a single burst of inspiration but rather the product diligent, consistent labor over a long period of time, perhaps years, with little to no reward before true success arrives.

When I see an extraordinary story in an otherwise ordinary observation. I am inspired to write the most strongly when I notice a story to be told that has not been told or has not yet been told in quite the way that only I can tell it.
