For me, inspiration comes in many forms. My first book is a nonfiction book and it was inspired just by seeing the gaps in the industry regarding strong project management for these particular types of projects.
For my creative writing (poetry, mystery and thrillers) I'm inspired by reading great stuff, listening to music, and watching people.

I have a mystery series that I'm really excited about. The first book is finished and a great agent has offered representation. I'm currently working on the second book in the series and also have the first 30,000 words of a thriller novel completed.
