Theodore Koukouvitis Some authors take first person POV to mean they just have to describe everything through the eyes of the protagonist. I think that's not enough. You need to take the protagonist's thoughts into account as well. If you are writing about an exotic setting, but the protagonist thinks it's trivial, the description should follow the protagonist's perception. Otherwise you're just using the first person POV as an excuse to info-dump.
Theodore Koukouvitis I wouldn't know! Thing is that the whole story is narrated through Rem's point of view, including all her biases and her perception of the world. If something is self-evident for Rem, she wouldn't stop to explain it.

Theodore Koukouvitis Aha! I see your point. Were any of the more exotic settings hard to understand at first?
