Undine Zimmer Something is bothering me: a memory, a question, an observation, a reflection.
Undine Zimmer Write. Take your own writing serious. Find a group of critical readers and get serious feedback.
Undine Zimmer Identifying with being a writer and talking to people about the topics I write about. Being invited to various occasions and meeting others.
Undine Zimmer A writer's block for me is about the fear of failing and embarrassing myself. Two minutes ago I thought I had a good idea, suddenly it seems stupid and irrelevant. Then I feel that everybody else would be able to do it better than I ever could. I am caged in my own shell. I can´t even start. I judge myself before I can write down a single letter. Every word I write feels banal and stiff.
So what I do is this: I watch a movie or series about a creative and productive person I admire until I adapt the mood and I can write again. The writer's block loosens the moment I stop comparing myself and my work with others. When I forget the outside world and just allow myself to like what I am doing. When I forget about trying to achieve something important, qualitative and final.
