The mystery of why a devoted wife didn't rush to her husband's side as he lay dying after being shot in a duel and why the man that husband chose to be his second in the duel insisted the duel continue after first shots had been ineffective. Even more than either of those questions -- what led to the duel. These were mysteries I confronted when I moved to the Louisiana River Road and bought the lot on which this antebellum duelist had lived. The plot of my novel REBIRTH IN ACADI is based on those those mysteries.
