Hi Candice,
Thanks so much for your note! I'm glad to hear the book resonated with you; that's certainly what I hoped for and why I wrote it—to help combat some of the isolation survivors can feel. I wrote the book I wish I had been able to read when I was going through the tough part of recovery. The Journal is available on Amazon http://amzn.to/2fLFbED. Let me know what you think.
Warm regards,
Ashley

My memoir was developed from journal entries made while I was recovering from sexual assault many years ago. It felt natural to follow up with a guide that others can use during their own recovery, wherever they may be in the process. I'm really proud of The Year After Journal. Hope you find it helpful, too!

I'm most inspired by internal process—mine or other people's. That's what I like to write about, and I guess that's why I'm a psychoanalyst and therapist. My problem is rarely inspiration, it's usually having the time to write, since my practice comes first.

A healing journal/ workbook to help with sexual assault recovery. It's called The Year After Journal: Your Guide to Reclaiming Personal Power After Rape and will be out in November. Stay tuned for a giveaway! (In the meantime, I'm giving away more copies of The Year After: A Memoir from 10/6-11/3).

Writing is a completely portable, immersive experience of endless possibility.

I like to quote a writing teacher of mine, Sue Rosen, whose classes at the New School I loved: "There is no such thing as writer's block." In other words, you put pen to paper and go. Don't think too hard; don't edit as you write. There's usually a nugget to develop after 15 minutes or so of non-stop flow. If not, do it again. And again.
