Waking up on a sandy beach with the gentle surf lapping at my toes. The new day is breaking on the horizon. The gentle breeze kisses my skin. Way too much of my skin. I sit up and confirm the first thing my foggy mind knows: I'm naked! I'm on a beach! Where am I? How'd I get here? Where's the beautiful woman from last night?
What a way to start the day?

The inspiration for this story did not come from one single source or event. While I was working around members of the US Army I was inspired by their professionalism. News reports about immigration, the war on drugs, human trafficking, and law enforcement fermented in my imagination until this story came together.

I have many different story lines that have come to me through the years. I am just now able to focus the neccessary time on working them into full blown novels.

I am working on my second novel. It is a story about a group of friends that come home on leave from the Army to attend a wedding. Their relaxing weekend is interrupted by a gang that has infiltrated this small Texas town.

Dont let anyone stop you from writing. There are alot of people that will give you reasons why you shouldnt write. That little voice inside you, that pull you feel, those thoughts that keep coming to you are things that others cannot relate to. If they could they would never tell you not to write. They simply do not understand. If they tell you that you are not good enough, listen to what they are telling you and revise your work until it is perfect. Make your prose so tight it squeeks. Then have strangers that love to read give you their feedback. Remember feedback is always good. Although negative feedback hurts you need to hear it. Remember that it is not about you. It is about making your story the best it can be. That does not mean that you should change your story every time someone suggests a change. You are the author.
The best advice I can give you is to write. Dont give up. Write every day.

You get to be the first person in the whole world to experience the story. Talk about an exclusive screening! Seriously, you get to walk alongside your characters. You get to feel their pain. You get to help them along. And sometimes you get kicked in the gut when they are not happy with you.

I have been fortunate so far with writers block. By fortunate I mean that I have not spent too much time absolutely frustrated by it.
For me what usually works is to brainstorm through it. I just start writing possible scenarios to work my way past whatever the point is that is blocking me. If I do not find inspiration immediately I will go for a run and just let my mind wander. I often come back with a new outlook that works. I did have one situation that I could not work through no matter what I tried. I finally just threw up my hands. No, really, I threw them up and just said "truck" it. I went to the next scene of the story and worked that. The problem, as it turned out, was that I was fighting to make the scene work when it was all wrong. Well wrong at that point of the story. I worked it in later and kept rolling along.
