Matthew Little Go slow. Don't think the first draft of the first thing you write is what's going to get you through the door. Don't think it'll pay for a new life. Writing takes time and precious delicateness. You can do it, but don't expect it happen right away. Take the time to practice and find your true voice, and go from there but always be realistic about it.
Matthew Little I think, I think constantly. With poetry I tend to just daydream and randomize words in my heads and create sentences, or I get inspired by what I see during the day and I try to get it out on my laptop before it goes away. With my novel writing, I try to come up with a story and just go with it. I usually start with the ending, or maybe a scene displaced from somewhere, and either I jot it down or just try to remember it.
Matthew Little A novel titled "Teddy Bears", about two boyfriends on the road who are trying to escape their home-lives, who have to do some less than legal things to keep at it.
Matthew Little I've always wanted to write a book about someone who's gay, but wanted to write it apart of the usual traditions most LGBT authors take. I'm tired of seeing all these new books about finding first loves, dealing with sexuality, bullying, I want something past that. I'd like something gay that borders on darker themes, with maybe violence, intensity, things like that.
