Becky Wallace I wish! I’d love to keep writing in this world, but I have a new contemporary called STEALING HOME in July!
Becky Wallace Actually, Johanna and Jacare's stories were very easy to tell. I had decided well before I started writing the first draft how their plotlines would interact. My initial ideas changed a lot (at one point I considered having Jacare fall in love with Jo!!!), but the beginning and ending points were always the same.

In the original draft, there were only three point of views (Jo, Rafi, and Jacare). Pira and Leao were added in editorial. Those two were the hardest to write because I had to keep the story the same but change how it was told and how it affected each specific character, while fleshing out people I intended to be very secondary characters!
Becky Wallace If you mean as reviewers, I don't get to chose who reads ARCs of my book. My publisher handles that.

If you mean as critique partners, I usually work with other authors that I have a personal relationship with. It's a lot of work to ask someone to read one of my drafts, and I want to make sure I can return the favor!
Becky Wallace It depends. It took six weeks to write the first draft of Storyspinner, and six months to write Skylighter. I've been working on my current project for almost a year (off and on) and I'm only 75 percent complete!
Becky Wallace What a great question! Thank you for asking! The publishing world does not consider the d-word to be language...specifically School Library Journal and Voya which both said my book has "no language." I believe "hell" is another word that they don't count.

In my personal life, I try to use both of those words as little as possible.
Becky Wallace I think....Dom?? He was so much fun to write! He's got such a fun, laid-back personality. If he was a real person, I'd totally want to hang out with him!
Becky Wallace Hi Christina! Thanks so much for your sweet comments! I'm thrilled you like The Storyspinner! It's always good to hear!

As far as I know, the second book will be published in March of 2016. I don't have official dates yet, but I'll let you know!!
Becky Wallace Yes! The sequel is finished and in copyedits right now. I'd be VERY surprised if it isn't out in first quarter of 2016!
Becky Wallace I would love to come to NC! And travel, but right now I don't have anything set in stone. Hopefully more details to come as summer draws closer!
Becky Wallace The main storyline will be completed in the second book. But that doesn't necessarily mean that I'm done with the world of Santarem. ;)
Becky Wallace I use a method called Mind Mapping. I have a post about it on my blog here: http://beckywallacebooks.com/defeatin...
Becky Wallace Write every day. Even if it's only one hundred words. Even if it's only fifty words. You'll get better at writing because you are constantly practicing.
Becky Wallace I just finished my first round of revisions on THE STORYSPINNER's sequel.
Becky Wallace There is inspiration everywhere! When I was in NYC in September, I went to a restaurant on Broadway before I saw Matilda. There were two police officers eating dinner at the table behind mine, and I couldn't keep my eyes off of them. The older officer had the look of command and experience. His entire right arm was covered in intricate, artistic tattoos, and he wore his hair slicked by like a movie mobster. His partner looked fresh from the police academy with an Abercrombie & Fitch hair cut and a baby face. They couldn't have been more different, yet there was a definite rapport as they talked and laughed over their meal. I couldn't help wondering what their backstories were...so I've decided to make them up. Should be interesting!
Becky Wallace The book that I'm working on now was inspired by a rather grisly nightmare. We'll have to see if the scene that I wrote first actually makes it into the book! ;)
