The Gitchie Manitou murders have been a topic of interest ever since they occurred in 1973. Yet no one knew the inside story of that night as the lone survivor, Sandra, refused all interviews on the topic as well as requests to write her story. One of the boys murdered that night had been my childhood best friend, and because of this Sandra eventually approached me to tell her story. She'd kept this story painfully trapped inside for too long. When she finally released her incredible tale, she felt the healing begin after 40 years of suffering silently.
