Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?
Melissa Kirsch I'm working on a book about belonging in the digital age. I got the idea from a crazy experience I had writing a mattress review on Amazon. (Google me and mattress then ask me what happened.)

How do you get inspired to write?
Melissa Kirsch Consuming culture. I used to think going to museums was kind of low-key and a way to spend a chill afternoon, but now I realize just being in the presence of other people's work is super-inspiring.

Melissa Kirsch I'm working on the update to The Girl's Guide to Absolutely Everything, tentatively titled simply "The Girl's Guide." It'll be out in the spring of 2015. I'm also writing a book of essays about community and technology.
