Mostly it's just something you have to do. But there's also the satisfaction of telling a story that you feel needs to be told.

Depending on my place in the story... Sometimes it's best to just get away from it for a few hours or a few days. One trick I use for a quick fix is to visit a site from the story, either physically or online. (example: the Golden Gate Bridge or a street view of a small town.
