I haven't ever had a problem with it. In fact I often find myself with too many ideas crowding into my head. I write them down as short prompts and then sometimes read through the list to make up my mind about my next project.
Just reading the dictionary and settling on a particular word and dwelling on it can sometimes set the wheels rolling and a story will form. Listening into conversations or snippets of a conversation can help, or sitting in a coffee shop watching people go about their daily lives and making up stories and situations about people you just see passing by. The world is full of stories and sometimes it is the ordinary and small which can hold a vivid and enthralling tale.

My most recent book is a novel, Ants Aunts and Funerals, which contains characters I have met throughout my life in various situations. Some are conglomerates of people I have known, others are people I have met,sometimes very briefly but who have left lasting impressions.
I tried to give a humorous but equally genuine feel for the bush as I remember the old churches and small towns in the country where I lived.
