If you write romance, please join Romance Writers Of America (RWA). It's a smart investment in your career. RWA offers great online workshops, info on the industry, an advocate in the industry, a national conference with amazing speakers and workshops, local and online chapters, generous members, and so much more.
For all writers, never give up. This is your passion. Go for it! If it takes you years, so what? Those years will still go by and where will you be? Filled with regret? Or happy that you're writing and getting closer to your dream?
Study your craft. There's too many great writing craft books out there for me to name here. Ask your favorite authors what book or workshop helped them. Never stop studying and learning. There are so many ways and processes to write. Try what you think might work. Quickly discard what doesn't work in your life and move on. Find what works for you.
Best of luck!

I get to meet these amazing characters! No, seriously. I swear they're real and I'm sure to pass them on the street one day. I love when characters speak to me. I do see them in my mind and hear them in my ear. And I'm the lucky one who gets to bring them to life on the page for everyone else to read. Also, I get to meet and hear from readers who love my characters, too, and for all different reasons. I love when readers tell me one of my characters touched their heart. So sweet and humbling...

You really can't write. The more you force it, the worse it gets. I walk away. Go out, do something, read, listen to music, watch movies, even clean house (yikes!), travel, experience new things, etc. It's about switching off that part of your brain for a short time and refilling the creative well. Also, about finding balance, so you don't get to writer's block in the first place.
