Lenore Sagaskie I'm always working on something....
Lenore Sagaskie My advice for aspiring writers is to get your work out of your head and on paper as soon as you can. Write everything in every genre. Try all types of writing to develop your style. Don't give up, keep moving forward and keep writing and editing your work.
Lenore Sagaskie The absolute best thing about being a writer is being able to work in your pajamas!
Lenore Sagaskie When I get stuck on some element in a story, I take a break from that story and write elements on issues within the story. For example, if I am trying to write a bit about a character's past without going into pages and pages of back story, I write a short essay about the character's life or a particular part of their past that is relevant. The I can examine it to decide what I can edit it down to without getting lost in the back story.
I also use times of writer's block to write outlines for other stories or novels, because those ideas always creep into my brain when I am struggling with something I don't want to do. It's a great way to get those outlines started for your other projects.
