Fae & Human Relations will be a series of interconnected standalones! So you'll be following a new couple in each book, but still seeing old favorites as side characters.

I have another Carmichael mystery that's just about ready to be published. I'm just waiting on a few things before I can get that one out there. And I have a fourth story that's roughly done but will need a good amount of editing before it's ready to be published. And I have 2 more stories that aren't quite finished yet but I'm trying to work out the endings.
While I get the third story ready for publication, I'm working on a new series with new characters and a new setting. Like the Carmichael stories, I wanted to make mysteries out of something well known so I'm working on a murder mystery based on a nursery rhyme. I'm really excited about it!

I was inspired by Patricia Wrede and Caroline Stevermer's "Sorcery & Cecilia" book trilogy. After finishing the third book, all I wanted to do was reread them! So, I decided to focus that excitement into writing. I loved the alternate history with magic so I started with that; I liked the mystery plot line so I thought in terms of mystery; I liked the type of magic they used which is a lot of theory and physics and studying, so I used that. With those jumping off points, I pulled from different ideas I had been toying with: I'd been wanting to do a fairy tale in a unique time period. After a bit of brainstorming, I latched onto the idea of using The Twelve Dancing Princesses. I was so excited about the project I wrote the rough draft in a week!
