Who the hell stole the chair cushions from my patio set?? Prime suspects: the young neighbors I yelled at for their Thursday night party that lasted until 3 am...

I've just finished the first draft of a romance that features an uptight, rigid English professor and a super-sexy, kinda flighty, children's librarian. When Victoria's university partner's with the local library to create an internship, she's uncertain if John can actually stay on task. To be fair to John, the gorgeous professor causes him to get distracted. He has a different task in mind.

The Write Escape was inspired by a month-long trip to Ireland. The trip was originally meant to chaperone a group of college students, but my husband and I got to leave them after two weeks and do our own thing. From Tully Cross, to Galway (both in the book), to Dingle, and finally Limerick, I fell in love with the land and the people. As a black woman from the South, I have never felt so welcomed by a European country until I went to Ireland. I hope that comes across in my book. It's my love letter to my husband's motherland.

Your path is your path. Don't compare yourself to anyone else because we're all running our own separate races. Also, collect writer friends. They'll understand late-night phone calls regarding plot holes better than your regular friends.

The best things about being a ROMANCE writer is seeing opportunity for love EVERYWHERE! I get to people-watch and imagine the drama of strangers.

Writer's block is real and it IS a struggle. I find that when I'm stuck, it means that the last 2-5 pages I wrote were not good. They've taken me down a wrong path. In order to get back on track, I must (and I hate to say this) delete or set aside those trash pages and start from the last part that made the most sense. It's taken me years to realize that this is how I work.
