W.D. Tuck Dear Sondous,

Thank you for your question.

The desire to share hope and connection. Those were the driving forces that transformed Glimpse from an idea into a book collection. I grew up as a pretty shy and lonely kid (still am, at times!) and I didn’t know how to express the tremendous well of feeling I held inside. I realized, as I read more, and got older, that there were many people out there in the world like me. That our loneliness, our heartbreak, our pain, our love, and our hope might not have the same faces, or be happening in the same places, but the feelings we share are still similar. And these feelings are a connection. I wrote Glimpse to honor this connection.

I also wrote Glimpse for myself. I wrote the book I wished I’d had as a companion in my life. The book I wished I’d had at my most lonely, most hurt, and most full of love. I wrote it as honestly and courageously as I possibly could because I knew there are other people like me who are facing similar challenges. Thinking of them gave me the courage to be vulnerable, real, and to push forward.

Please know that if you found yourself in Glimpse, if you felt your own feelings acknowledged, that you helped give me the courage to write it. That it’s for you. Thank you.

All the best in all you do.

William
