Claire Firth I will quite often work on a different story for a while and then go back and try again! Or I go for a long walk and think about my characters - where they're at in the story, how they feel about that, what they need to do next to get them where I want them to be. Then I sit down and try again.

Claire Firth Write, write, write. The more you write the better you get. Try to put aside at least a couple of hours a day if you can and be selfish about it. Be brave and ask one or two trusted friends for feedback on your manuscripts. Then look at what they say very carefully and ask yourself if it's pertinent. Keep an open mind. Most of us use too many adverbs and adjectives etc., when we first start writing, and our sentences are too long. Cut, cut, cut. And then cut some more! Also, read a lot of the genre you're writing to see what sells.
Claire Firth I also write mystery crime/drama under another pen name and currently I'm doing the final edit on that. I have another story in the Regency Undone Series in my head and hope that at some point that will translate to paper! I've also got the first draft of a contemporary Women's fiction novel waiting to be edited. Not sure which 'hat' that will come under - I may need a 3rd pen name! It gets very confusing.
Claire Firth I've always loved writing; my problem isn't finding the inspiration, it's dragging me away from my desk and computer and remembering that I have another life as well! I've always taken my pad and pencil and more recently, my laptop, everywhere I go. I write on trains, planes, beaches - you name it and I've probably written there! That's why it's the most fantastic career and hobby.
Claire Firth That's an easy one. Isabelle and Guy appeared briefly in The Reluctant Bride and both were in very unhappy situations at the time. They were almost screaming out at me to write their story and I couldn't wait to get stuck in!
