Nancy Dane The Reconstruction era seemed the natural progression after finishing my last series, which was Civil War Arkansas. I found reams of intriguing data and worked in information from many source documents. However, I am extremely careful that my novels don't read like history books, but stories that inform without the reader even realizing how much they are learning while they are being entertained. Sneaky? Yep!
Nancy Dane I love to write so it doesn't take much inspiration. I can see new scenes unfolding in my mind while I walk or work or simply over hear a conversation.
Nancy Dane I'm writing my first children's book titled Sarah Campbell, Tale of a Civil War Orphan. Although the story is fiction, it is based on a real person by the same name. The idea for the book grew from a request from the Arkansas Newspaper Association, asking me to write a serial for the Newspapers in Education program for 5th grade reading level. The serial was so successful, I suppose it was inevitable a book would follow. I am excited that it will be released later this year.
Nancy Dane Getting to share my stories with the world. I love being able to create the story I want to tell. I love to read, but creating my own tale my way is super satisfying.
Nancy Dane I take a few days off and do anything but write. That usually works for me, and I am back at the keyboard and ready to go again.
