Having a great love of baseball and all its mystique, I would rather enjoy playing baseball on the field built in the cornfield depicted in the 1989 Kevin Costner film, Field of Dreams, which was derived from the book, "Shoeless Joe," by William Patrick Kinsella. I know that those are ghosts of the deceased playing on this field, so I would not mind waiting a bit and playing on real fields for now, or better yet, watching my son play.

Whether someone calls it a muse, an inner voice, or some other extraneous force whispering in a writer's ear, wherever it comes from it cannot be denied. Maybe all people hear these whisperings, but a writer cannot simply dismiss them.

If you really enjoy writing, don't let anything stop you, no matter how much time you have to devote to it. Always write for you first, write what interests you, and the readers who find you will be lucky they did.

The best thing about being a writer is that each project is different. No two books are ever the same. This allows for a true exploration into any subject matter, state of emotion and critical way of thinking. Most professions do not afford that kind of freedom.

The idea for my most recent book, which is completed and being considered by a literary agent at the moment, came to me in recent years while coaching my son's Little League team and watching him develop, not just his baseball skills but his sense of himself. While quiet and rather introverted, he developed ability and confidence that made me wonder where this might have all come from. An imaginative tale of baseball and goblins emerged in my mind, and now on paper. Soon in print.....

I am currently working on a second middle grade novel. A book with mystery, dark adventure and cryptids, which may just develop into a series.

You need to write through it. It's like wandering off a main road, you can't just pull over and stop. If you keep going, eventually you'll find a way out, and while perhaps not ending up in the place where you thought you were heading, then in the place you ought to be.

With the recent passing of Hank Aaron, there are several good biographical books written about this baseball legend. One in particular I want to find quiet time to read from cover to cover is, "I had a Hammer."
