I particularly like Anna and William in Waves of Mercy by Lynn Austin. They each struggle with individual issues and mature emotionally throughout the story. The author leads you to expect a certain type of ending but goes in a different direction in a realistic way for the Late Victorian Era.

Inspiration for my most recent book, Saving Mossy Point - In the Fifty-First State of Superior, came from a decade of living in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I wanted to tell a story that portrayed the culture of this region, and I wanted it to include humor. I hope I've succeeded.

The best thing about being a writer is working when and where I desire. The second best thing is creating something unique.

When I have writer's block, I set my writing aside. While I'm doing other things, my mind works on the writing problem and ideas pop up. Another way I deal with it is to consult my husband. He usually has some ideas for me.
