The book I will be working on soon (I hope) is inspired by something I wrote for fun many years ago. I came across it when clearing out papers and I hope to make something of it. It's a book for children.

I really haven't any answer. Advice should come from better writers than I am. One rule I try to keep to though, is never to condescend to children when writing stories for them. The words may be simple but the English must be good.
