First, I give myself permission to write garbage. Then, I write a sentence. I follow that with another sentence, and then I write one more. I find that the physical act of writing shakes loose and gets the creative flowing again.

It's a sequel to my first novel. My first novel, "Aliens in the Gift Shop," introduced the reader to two alien scientists and Marcy (who is just your average Earthling). I'm influenced by Steven Moffat's writing on Doctor Who - how he takes an innocuous item and looks at it in a completely different (and usually scary) manner. I wanted to do the same thing, and the idea came to me when I looked at a famous landmark from a different perspective.
