Shane Finkelstein Well, a lot of my writing is based on real people, and unfortunately I know a few misers. But this character isn’t really like those misers, he’s just grown into his own being. I like to write about real people in real life situations, but with a fictionalized twist.
Shane Finkelstein I am currently working on my second novel, The Miser. I’ve written a lot of the sequel to Finding Gordon Lipschitz, but I’ve put it aside to work on this new project. I’m also trying to find the time to work on the screenplay to Finding Gordon Lipschitz.
Shane Finkelstein To be as helpful as you can to other writers. I have been surprised at how little help I’ve been able to get from other people, whether it’s been during the writing process or during the marketing process. Whenever someone has approached me for help, I’ve gone out of my way to help. I know people’s time is valuable, but sometimes I wish people were less selfish.
Shane Finkelstein I really like the example it sets for my children. It shows them that they can accomplish anything they put their mind to. I hope one day they can find a career that they enjoy as much as I enjoy writing. Wish I could find a way to make a career of it.
Shane Finkelstein I don’t have a lot of time to write with my full time business as a restauranteur and as a father of three young kids so writer’s block hasn’t been an issue for me. I usually have the next chapter or two marinating in my head for a week or two before I find the time to put it to pen.
