Daniel Sullivan As soon as possible. I'm working on it. I know that's not the most satisfying answer, but it's an honest one. My researching/writing/editing time for a novel is about 6-9 months. I'm hoping to move back toward traditional publishing, so I can focus less on marketing and more on writing, however that move could initially delay release dates.

Daniel Sullivan I get to tell the truth through lies.
Daniel Sullivan Don't worry about writing every day. That's garbage advice. If you want to be a good writer, go experience the world, seek adventures and troubles and absurdity. Then find a comfortable chair and write about what moves you. You can't craft good stories without having some of your own.
Daniel Sullivan Planning prevents writer's block. Before writing Black Collar, I spend two months storyboarding the plot, working out the kinks beforehand and naming most of the supporting characters. I started by using mind mapping software to brainstorm, then I filled a few notebooks with ideas, and eventually I transferred those plot-points to index cards. Instead of wasting time writing myself into corners, I made those mistakes on the index cards, discarding over 1,000 cards on my way to a storyboard with thirty-seven color-coded chapters--one index card per chapter. Because I always knew the direction of my narrative, writer's block was never an issue.
