J.T. Buckley I have two answers here.
By Right of Arms- I was tired of the same old whiny scifi. I wanted to see an epic adventure that fell back toward the space opera of my youth. I pulled concepts from the Ancient Aliens theories and rewrote them where we were the ancient aliens.
Blood and Steel- I was tired of the same old vampire stories and so I reinvented them.
J.T. Buckley I always have 3 -4 projects going at any one time. This allows me to switch between them when I have a block on one. Usually working on the next one will alleviate the writer's block on the first one. Another thing you can do is type in bold large print write " CHANGE THIS" then write whatever comes to mind. That will allow the creativity to continue without the stress of writing something brilliant. The change this is so the gobbledygook you just wrote gets removed by the next draft.
J.T. Buckley This may sound a bit corny but the best thing to do is to Write, write, write. Write until you are sick of writing then write some more. The more you write the better you get. Also when you finish something put it down for a while. I recommend months if you are not on a deadline. Write something else then go back to the first project. You will read it with fresh eyes and catch a lot of mistakes.
