Shawn Spjut I'm always working on multiple projects ( two books and several short stories) - not just writing. I also design my own webpages, books covers and press releases. And if it gets really bad - I read.
Shawn Spjut There are no rules except the ones you make and you get to live vicariously in any world, genre, gender or scenario you want - and get away with it.
Shawn Spjut 1. Read everything you can get your hands on. 2. Write the first draft without editing - then put it away for a couple of weeks. 3. Edit until you realize you're just rearrange words. 4. Find an honest Beta-reader to read your final draft - listen to their ideas, and then go back and fix what needs to be fixed.
Shawn Spjut A word or a phrase or sometimes a picture. I'm also a huge Fantasy/Paranormal/Romance groupie, and the authors I follow have all inspired me in one form or another.
Shawn Spjut Actually, The Gathering started out as a way to utilize writing prompts from a writer's group I belong to. I had such a positive response from fellow writers, I just kept adding to it every couple of weeks. The next thing I knew, I had written more than half the book and feel so much in love with all the characters, I decided to finish it as the first blog-to-book in a series.
