Tom D. Wright Every book has a unique genesis of an idea.
Tom D. Wright I wake up in the morning. Seriously, I just sit down, put on my Writing Playlist and have at it.
Tom D. Wright Keep working at developing your craft. If you want to be a pro or semi-pro musician, you wouldn't pick up your instrument for an hour every other Saturday morning. And be brutally honest with yourself as a writer, on what you need to work on developing and improving. Finally, and this applies to ANYTHING, not just writing - if you have a passion that gets steamrolled by life, put it on the back burner - but don't EVER take it off the stove.
Tom D. Wright The creative process - which more often than not surprises me as much as it does the reader (eventually.)
Tom D. Wright Writer's block, in the sense that the writing isn't flowing, simply means I haven't done the pre-writing needed, such as character development or world building or plot development. If I've done those things, I don't have writer's block...which doesn't mean that what I write is polished material, but I will have something. That said, if I encounter a passage that I'm not ready to write yet, I'll simply and then circle back around to it when I'm doing my first revision pass.
