Humility. My first book wasn't perfect - entertaining, but not perfect. Some authors say to ignore the critics, but I take a different approach. Look for the value in those difficult critiques and apply that to your writing.

Oooo - a juicy question! Actually, it was inspired by some real events. I had a crush on a guy once and he was in a totally different league than I was (or so my young, impressionable self thought). There may have been some encounters similar to what Lilly and Will experienced. Years later, we did meet up again and I was much more comfortable in my own skin, but his circumstances were much different. All of my stories have a bit of myself in them.
