In my case, because I'm writing memoirs, it's usually after doing something that was particularly fun, humorous, or joyous. It's the inspiring stuff that inspires me, and I often run to the computer to capture the feeling as best I can. So it can be anything that I might do around the house or even as I'm out and about. But it has to make me laugh, cry, be amazed or in awe, or I don't think it's write-worthy.

The next book about being at home and living in joy. I'm also working on a workbook to go with both my first book and this next one.

Write. Write all the time, any chance you get. Don't write to be published, just write. Share your writing with others when it seems to be the right time for it, but not always. As you develop your style and method, share with more people from diverse backgrounds to get a good idea of who your audience is. Then write for them, and share it wherever you can.

It varies. There's no single approach that works every time for me. So sometimes it's a matter of doing some research, sometimes it's just getting up and going outside for a walk, and sometimes it's playing some music. But it's always about taking some kind of a break and getting away from the computer. Changing things up and doing something other than sitting in front of a blank screen is the key.
