Writers write - we cant help ourselves and couldn't stop if we tried. It's in our blood, and we do it whether it ever earns a dime. But here is one thing I have observed: It's much easier for a compelling story line and rich characters to evolve in my mind now that I have lived and worked abroad and in interesting places. There is nothing like diverse, real-world experience to provide the fodder for a great story.

I have been involved in Information Technology for over 3 decades. My work in the US Department of Defense and my work in Defense-related companies such as Boeing have provided me with many real-world examples of cyber warfare and cyber crime. I also earned a graduate degree in Technology Management some years ago. All of these prepared me in different ways to manufacture fictional events from existing and nearly-existing technologies.
