Echo Fox Well, summer has disappeared where I am, so on my autumnal reading list...I just finished China Rich Girlfriend by Kevin Kwan and Book of Dust: The Secret Commonwealth by Philip Pullman (and now I have to wait a year for the next one, boo).
Echo Fox Hmm, horror is not my forte. I freak myself out way too easily. How about...

Home, alone. A crash reverberates from the back window, followed by the slippery sound of something, not from this world...

*shudder*
Echo Fox I would head to Anne McCaffery's Pern ASAP, head to the Harper Hall immediately for a bubbly pie (travelling is hungry work) and then make enquiries as to who to talk to in order to get myself a fire lizard egg.
Echo Fox I'm working on it right now! Book Five is so exciting for me and it is proving fun to write as the four characters that have appeared in the standalone books so far will be meeting for the first time! It's great to write their interactions with each other and their adventure - so stay tuned to my website blog and Twitter for the latest news.
Echo Fox I was thinking about the Mer in 'Wave Singers' and what they went through because of Merrick's erratic temper. I realised that, as the villain of the piece, Merrick never got to share his side of the story. In 'Wave Singers', he is quite mad, his mind overtaken by Strife, but I wanted to show a glimpse of his younger self and show a few of the circumstances that caused him to become susceptible to Strife's insanity. That is how 'Regent' came about.
Echo Fox I haven't been directly inspired by any films, although I have always loved The Little Mermaid, which is probably why I loved writing the underwater scenes in 'Wave Singers' so much.
Indirectly, the movies have had an influence if only because they open my eyes to so many different world building possibilities and characters.
Echo Fox If it happens, you just have to power on through. Once I've started writing I don't usually want to stop - it's the getting started part that slows things down. So even if the first page - or more - are strangely phrased, badly spelt, grammatical nightmares, you get it out of your system and then you're back in the game.
Echo Fox Tern, the animal spirit manifested physically who guides Gentian from 'Earth Drummer' along his life path, is intimately linked to Gentian's own heart strings. Currently, they are both nursing a broken heart after their adventures in romance...but who knows what will happen for both of them in a future book?
Echo Fox I'm currently penning number three in the Equilibria Series, title to be revealed later this month on my blog!
Echo Fox In Wave Singers, it's probably Leander. He's just looking out for his place in the world and trying to find where he fits in. All he wants is someone to tell him how special he is, someone to love and be loved in return. He's a bit of a desperate romantic.

In Earth Drummer, Gentian and Tern are the power duo. Warm, stable, dependable - the two of them make a team that can surpass any trial Tarek throws their way. I love the sibling bickering between Gentian and Geanna as well, it came so naturally to them.
