Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?
Ken Paterson Two sources: the first was a visit on my own to the Spanish city of Cordoba, where I learnt a little about the Islamic occupation of Andalucia, more than a thousand years ago. I began to imagine what the city might have been like: had there really been a short period when Christians, Muslims and Jews were able to mix freely together under the trees in the town’s squares? The second source was my regular walk home from work through London’s Regent’s Park at dusk. There’s a small area of undulating land near the zoo that seems to have a kind of energy about it, particularly at twilight. If a fairy were to appear and offer to grant you a wish, that’s where it would happen. I knew there was a connection between these two ideas. I just had to find it.
