Oh dear--this is where it would pay to have a more exciting life. My only mysteries are wondering where the missing words in my brain go....

If you mean from my books, I'd say the Roman Senator Decimus Varitor and the healer, Joanna, widow of the physician Loukas.
From others' books--hard, hard to say. It sometimes changes with each new good fiction I read.

Pray. Do something different for a time--clean up the kitchen, pull weeds, cook a meal, talk to a friend, do some research. And talk to God some more.
Something weird that also helps me? Being under pressure to finish a task, whether it's writing or editing or fixing a meal.

My doctor says it's good for me. I say it's essential. Love writing, especially writing for God, whether it's a note to a friend or a full-length book.

A few things. One is a novel about Luke the Beloved Physician, another is a Thanksgiving short story--part of my series about holidays throughout the year.

I put a lot of prayer into writing. I want everything I write to honor the Lord, and I believe He has first dibs on putting creativity into all of us in one form or another. Some are inspired to cook; some to sew; some to lead, some to follow. I'm basically a follower, so I hope I follow where He leads.

The most recent full-length novel is The Truth Doesn't Die, and I got the idea from the previous novel in the series, Marcus Varitor, Centurion. In Marcus, the hero from The Truth is introduced (Decimus) and it's obvious he has more than a passing interest in Joanna, the widow of Loukas, a Greek physician. You know how some characters are. Decimus demanded a chance to prove himself to the courageous and gracious lady.
