I want to go to Beta Tau, visit the Whip Hand, and meet Shane, Maon, Randolph, Trey, and the women in their lives. It's a world I created, and it feels like a real place in my mind.
When considering a world, not my own, I'd like to go follow Bren Cameron around on the Atevi world in Foreigner.

The plot of any romance author's books is about the mystery of love. When it strikes. Who falls. Will it last and become diamond-bright? I have engaged in this mystery for several decades with the man of my dreams since I was sixteen-years-old. As the songs says...
Ah! Sweet mystery of life
At last I've found thee
Ah! I know at last the secret of it all;
All the longing, seeking, striving, waiting, yearning
The burning hopes, the joy and idle tears that fall!
For 'tis love, and love alone, the world is seeking,
And 'tis love, and love alone, that can repay!
'Tis the answer, 'tis the end and all of living
For it is love alone that rules for aye!
Love, and love alone, the world is seeking,
For 'tis love, and love alone, that can repay!
'Tis the answer, 'tis the end and all of living
For it is love alone that rules for aye!

My most recent book was the second in a series. Maon was a secondary character in book one, and I fell in love with him in that book. I had to tell the story of his happily ever after. But in book one he's already living that HEA, so for his story I ended up going back in time to discover who he was before Selina Shirley took him in hand. And what a story it ended up to be.

Characters and story lines have always bounced around in my head. When I've tell others about them, I'm always encouraged to write the book. Where the ideas come from I don't really know. Perhaps my dreams.

My works-in-progress include a novella, Matou & Me, that will publish in the late Spring of 2017. It's the love story of a cat burglar trainee and her mentor.
I'm also writing the third in my Sons of Tallav series about Randolph Meryon, the owner of the BDSM club, the Whip Hand, from the previous books. He's a sadist, so it's been interesting discovering more about what makes him tick.
I also have a contemporary romance in the brewing stage, which I should begin outlining soon.

Write until you have a finished work and then find a developmental editor who will work with you to polish it. I was rejected by publishers before I took this step. Be careful though, you shouldn't have to pay more than $300-$400 for a complete developmental edit of a 100,000 word novel. Ask for references you can contact.

The best thing about being a writer are the milestones. There is enormous satisfaction in completing your first novel, having it accepted and published, and reading a review by someone that gets your story and your characters and loves them as much as you do.

I sit down and start writing the next logical scene, even if the words don't flow and I don't get very far. It's like rolling a car forward to get it started. Most of the time it works because when I read what I wrote the next day, I'll find it wasn't as bad as I thought, and my brain is now full of the story again.

Goodness, my favorite fictional couple changes, but at the moment it would be Lt. Eve Dallas and Roarke from the J.D. Robb ...in Death series. I love the interaction between these two that demonstrates the depth of their love beyond the physical, although the physical is fiercely hot.
