I didn't even need to look inside the bucket to know what was there. The dreaded, vile fumes surrounded me and beat on me like a brutal hammer; it was starting all over again...

I think it's pretty hard to beat Ross Poldar and Demelza of "Poldark" or Jamie and Claire of "Outlander". All of them are richly developed, interesting, and independent characters.

I ran my own school in Juneau for ten years, and many of the examples for types of writing that I showed to my students were actually written by me. One of my short stories that I shared with them was a fantasy/mystery/thriller. That short story was the basis for this longer novel that I'm just completing.

I find something that I'm passionate about and go for it!

I'm almost finished with my third novel. There will still be a lot of my own editing yet, and I'll be working with an editor as well, but I'm close to finishing it the first time through. I'm really enjoying it. It's quite different than my last book, which was science fiction. This one takes place in Scotland and is a fantasy/mystery/thriller. There are many, many puzzle pieces to keep track of in this one. Right now I'm in the climax of the book. The writing is slow but extremely fun!

The best advice that I could give anyone is to just start writing, get feedback and write, write, write...

A lot of things. I love words and phrases, descriptions, plot elements, and putting together the puzzle that a book becomes. I love the small details and the bigger picture. When I write, I see the book in my mind and sometimes surprise myself when I see something that I didn't expect!

I keep a regular writing schedule, which is about 4-10 hours a day, 5-6 days a week. I find when I let my schedule lag, that it's more difficult to get going.
