Reuben Miles I looked up one night in deepest dark Devon. The stars made me cry they were that beautiful. It almost definitely didn't have anything to do with the whiskey I'd been supping.
Reuben Miles I'm a visual writer. I close my eyes and see the story I want to tell a long time before I pick up a pen. I wait until the thing is thrashing about in my head, spilling out of me, taking up way more space in my thoughts than anything really ever should. If I can get to that stage, I know I'm on to something, and the inspiration comes from that belief.
Reuben Miles The second book in my Apparent Brightness Trilogy. I'm not ready to share anything yet, but I can say I'm very excited about how it's taking shape...
Reuben Miles Write! Just write!

I don't let anyone see my work until the heart of the story is beating strong. You'll know when that is. It's tempting to ask for feedback too soon, when you know it's not quite ready yet, and the response you get can be demoralising. Wait until it's practically bursting out of you.

And read. Lots!
Reuben Miles Imagining things that are new, that have never been before. It's is the most addictive and intoxicating feeling in the universe. Also, after I've let one of my stories go, waiting for the response from my reaeders to come in is one of the most terrifying but exhilirating experiences ever!
Reuben Miles I've never really had it! When working on something new I set myself a target of 1,000 words a day. Some days the words come faster than other, but I always get there in the end. It does tend to be the days where the words come fastest that I produce my best writing, but I find the routine helpful even if I end up discarding everything the next day!
