My upcoming book, which is tentatively titled The Road from Elysium, is the one I've lived with the longest. Back in 2007, I was working as an RN in psych ward and thought that a murder mystery set in this dramatic environment would be compelling. It would be another year before I left the nursing to focus on writing, and several more before I actually starting writing.
Even though I'd toyed with the idea for years, this novel gave me more trouble than my earlier books. Go figure!
At any rate, I kept at it and the novel is in final edits and should be coming out later this years, which proves that at least 90% of writing is simple determination.

I'm working on my second Addie Gorsky mystery.
To a point, setting drives the story. After exploring the underbelly of Mystic Cove retirement community in my debut novel, I was ready for the real thing. In this second outing Addie dives headfirst into the dark heart of north Florida--a humid wilderness of grinning gators, killer bees, and gaping cottonmouths.
Needless to say, it was a lot of fun to write!
