Bit late, but I'm working my way back through all Terry Pratchett's Disc World Series. Also, Conn Iggulden's series on Julius Caesar. All interspersed with a bit of Space Team nonesense.

Having read science fiction since my teens I guess I've absorbed so many ideas and concepts that are then percolating in my brain. However, sometimes inspiration for a novel might come from a short story written for my writing group (always a rich breeding ground for ideas), or often the just the world around me, what's in the news perhaps that might lend itself to the sci-fi treatment.

I don't suffer from 'writers block'. If the book is not going well, I try a short story or work on my next blog.

I'm currently revising my third novel 'Bleak'. I have also just finished a first draft of a sequel to my first novel 'Ancestral Dreams'. The intention is to make it a trilogy, so I will delay publication until the third is also ready to launch.
