Eddie Rice Find a like-minded community of other writers. It doesn't have to be a feedback group but instead a group committed to keeping each other accountable. My editor invited me to such a group and we write together for one-two hours each night. We only share our goals and what we accomplished and it has worked out well to keep me accountable to my daily tasks.
Eddie Rice I start with the problems facing my ideal reader/potential client. I answer each problem with the advice that I'd give as if it were a conversation.
Eddie Rice In my free-time, I write speeches for other people. Many of those speeches aren't the typical corporate keynotes but instead ones for special occasions: wedding toasts, birthday speeches, retirement toasts, etc. I took that knowledge and process and put it into my recent book, Toasts: Short Speeches, Big Impact. I wanted my audience to have access to the same brainstorming questions and process that my clients go through.
Eddie Rice When I get stuck writing a chapter or a speech, I compose out loud. I'll talk myself through the problem or even impersonate the client for whom I am writing.

My other strategy is to find a new location where to write. I like the white noise of coffee shops and coworking spaces. I also locked myself in a hotel room to get the final chapters of Toast finished. It was exactly what I needed to focus my efforts to finish the book.
