Edwin Tipple They say write about what you know. Seems good sense, though I get the impression that 'some' writers do not know about much and is why they had to get someone else to write a book for them.

I knew about trains from the steam age but didn't want to write a train spotter's novel. Instead, I used a man from the world's oldest police force as the main character: DI Crosier.
