Diane Covington-Carter My favorite fictional couple would have to be Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennett. I love how she stood up to him and was herself and how he softened and became so much more lovable and less arrogant. Especially since it was first published in 1813! And yet it is still considered to be one of the most popular love stories of all time. I agree.
Diane Covington-Carter If I feel stuck, I go outside and do physical work. I have an 8-acre farm, so there is plenty of chance for that. I always carry a pen and pad, though, because words start to flow again as I'm moving through space being physical and being out in nature.
Diane Covington-Carter When I receive a positive review and someone tells me that I changed their life, that makes it all worthwhile. Writing itself is not at all glamorous, but rather demands endless hours staring at a computer screen and searching for the right way to express something. But I can lose track of hours as I'm doing just that and love that feeling of focused work and of being in the zone.
Diane Covington-Carter Write every day and read every day. Don't get discouraged if you aren't an overnight success. On the other hand, I feel it is good to get your writing out there and sold as much as possible. So find a small newspaper or magazine and sell some articles. Seeing your name in print and getting that check, even if it is small, is a great motivation.
Diane Covington-Carter My latest book, "Eight Months in Provence, a Junior Year Abroad 30 Years Late" is doing very well. I want to learn more about Social media for that book and the others I have written. But I am also going to dust off an older project and launch into a new one and see which one takes off.
Diane Covington-Carter I believe in journaling daily as a way to loosen up the muse. All of my published writing started out in my journal and then became a more polished piece.
Diane Covington-Carter I knew that I wanted to write a book about my experience of living in France for eight months. It was such a powerful and healing journey that I wanted to share it with others and inspire them to dust off and pursue long held dreams. There is so much gold in those dreams just waiting to be discovered. And they hold keys to our soul.
