No Stranger to Death opens with my main character, Doctor Zoe Moreland, finding a woman’s body in the remains of a bonfire on November 6th. I got the idea when we attended a local Guy Fawkes party on November 5th (known as Bonfire Night in the UK) and as we stood looking at the enormous bonfire I said to my husband, ‘That would be a good place to put a dead body.’ ‘You’ve always said you want to write a book,’ he replied. ‘So write that.’
