J.A. Jackson I went to my dressing room mirror to try on the dress.
There was a face staring back at me, but it wasn’t my own.
J.A. Jackson What mystery in your own life could be a plot for a book? There are many! On both my mother’s side of the family and my father’s.
I have so many thoughts for plots from my family history that they could be a series of books all by themselves.

Without giving out all the details here is one example.

For example, there is a story about a great Aunt who was a widow with two small children, living in Louisiana back in the 1920’s. And she took in another woman thought to be a widow also, who also had small children, to help her with expenses. Well, the story goes that the woman she was attempting to help got a boyfriend and he would drop by daily to see the woman even when she wasn’t home. Long story short, the lady began to realize her boyfriend wanted my aunt and not her. So what does she do? She attempted to poison my great aunt. This sounds like a story out of today’s headlines, but it happened way back in the 1920’s, and it’s a true story.

The mystery of this story is the way the poison was given and the way my great aunt discovered the poison and the strangest of it all is the mystery itself.
J.A. Jackson Being over powered by that feeling of being inspired - in the moment - when "what if" overtakes me and hits me with an urgency to write it down….Write it down!
J.A. Jackson I'm currently working on Part II - for one of my books. I think I'm going to call this - Revenge! - Can you guess which of my books this Part II would belong? Where I would want to call it...."Revenge?"
J.A. Jackson I am inspired by many things. From things I read or places I have visited. However an as example for my book The Grand Hotel my inspiration came from walking past the royal old Sir Drake Hotel on Powell Street in San Francisco one night, and while seeing a wedding held at the Fairmont Hotel. They both inspired my novel, The Grand Hotel by J. A. Jackson.
J.A. Jackson From time to time I do experience writers block and normally when I do it means I need to get out of the house away from my normal routine. My favorite thing to do is go for a drive. I kid you not. A long peaceful drive on an old highway can do the trick. Of course if I stop at a small town along the way it always gives me inspiration. And oh yeah driving the California coast really frees up the “what if” in my mind and clears my writer’s block.
J.A. Jackson Persevere! Next I would say always listen to the voice within. It is your number one fan. Then I would say never stop believing in yourself. Never give up. Just keep writing.
J.A. Jackson Well I am inspired by many things. But for my last book Mistress of Desire & The Orchid Lover I was inspired while visiting Monterey California. I spent a Saturday there walking cannery row and Fisherman’s wharf and got inspired to write the book.
