Hi Lindsay. It was my co-presenter Meshel Laurie who suggested we do a podcast together after I was a guest on her podcast Nitty Gritty Committee. I'd wanted to do a podcast for ages but didn't know how to go about it so this is great to learn about podcasting!

I'm no poster child for great writing habits but really the tried and true advice of reading, reading, reading is true. And just write. Despite how you feel - inspired or not - just get some words on the page.

This isn't a unique answer but it's got to be Elizabeth Bennett and Mr Darcy of Pride and Prejudice. I also found the relationship between Clarice Starling and Hannibal Lecter fascinating in Silence of the Lambs.

I take a walk but generally I find I just have to start writing to clear the block. Writing non-fiction means it's easier to deal with writer's block because there's always research and interviewing people and checking up facts to go on with.

I have almost finished my manuscript for another true crime book. This one focuses on a particular type of serial killer and has around 20 chapters, each a different case. The book is due out early 2015.

I love to research old newspapers and magazines and I get all sorts of ideas from reading about the past. Deadlines usually inspire me to get writing though!
