Life sometimes intrudes and it's hard to put stresses aside and focus on the story. When that happens, I remember how much I love the people in my book. That sucks me back in and allows me to fall back into the story. Then it's magic again :-)

I just finished the fourth Cincinnati book - Adam and Meredith's story, called Edge of Darkness. It'll be released 11/17 in the UK and 2/18 in the US/Canada. Getting ready to go into revisions. The book I'll start next will be a return to Baltimore.

Don't write to get published. Write because you love the people living inside your head. Write because you MUST. Write because it brings you joy, because the joy will be what keeps you writing.

Playing with my imaginary friends all day and knowing through the story I'll connect with a real live person I might never meet. (So that's two things.)

I sometimes take a break, talk to friends. Usually it only takes one comment from the right person to put me back on track.
If I've painted myself into a corner where something just doesn't make sense, I ask myself "What makes it make sense?" and that can work things loose too. I've gotten some of my best twists that way!
