Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?
Cody Williams ON A MIDNIGHT STROLL is a collection of short stories. I started writing for the collection in June of 2013 with no book in mind. I was writing just to write it. Nearly two years and two hundred stories later, I got in contact Dale Bruning from Show-Me Doctrine Publishing after a few of my stories got published with some of his anthologies. I had the idea to do this book and Dale was quickly on board.

The various stories came from different places and honestly, a lot of them I don't even know where the ideas came from. It's almost like being in a dream.

How do you get inspired to write?
Cody Williams I've always been fascinated with writers. When I was in the sixth grade I read a novel that has since been my favorite called IT by Stephen King. The novel turned me on to Stephen King and Mr. King is my largest inspiration to write.

What are you currently working on?
Cody Williams I'm currently going through edits for a stand alone novella to be published this December titled SANTA'S WORKSHOP. I'm also working on a book of hardcore horror novellas due out next fall and I'm editing an anthology due out next spring.

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?
Cody Williams Don't give up on it. Keep doing what you love and everything will work out just fine.

What’s the best thing about being a writer?
Cody Williams I get to do what I love. I am happiest when I am in a room by myself working on a story. I get to get lost in those characters and my own little fantasy world. I suppose that's what I like best.

How do you deal with writer’s block?
Cody Williams It's a problem that I very rarely have. I do, however, sometimes have dry spells where the ideas are not as good as I like them to be. I deal with this by just sitting down and waiting for that voice. I wait until I hear a character speak. After that, the story usually runs itself off.
