Hey, Thomas! Thanks for the question. Hell Knight: Rise of the Betrayer is the start of a series. The book is 50,000 words, so depending on your definition, it's either a really long novella or a short novel. I wanted Hell Knight to be a page-turner, so it's not a door-stopper by any means. As far as a map, unfortunately, I don't have one in place yet (other than in my own notes), but I would love to get one. Perhaps this is something I can add later in the series.

They didn't tell me who she was before I did what I did. It's funny how you can know a person's voice and yet not recognize their screams.

The first that comes to mind is Amaranthe and Sicarius from Lindsay Buroker's Emperor's Edge series. They had great chemistry, not to mention the dialogue between them made me laugh out loud on more than one occasion.

I think writer's block is a symptom of pantsing. If you take time to plot out your story and learn about your characters, you won't get stuck. That being said, I pants most of my episodes :D. If I get stuck, I go for a walk to clear my mind.

Considering I write only as a hobby, I would have to say getting the story out of my head is the best part. My mind is crowded with story ideas and different characters. For some reason, once I write them down, they leave me alone and I can focus on something else. I'm totally not crazy by the way :)

Read. Read anything you can get your hands on. Once you've read some good books, try and write one. After that crashes and burns, read some more. Only this time, study everything about what you're reading. After trying to write something on your own, you start to notice things you would've missed just following as a reader.

I'm wrapping up the first draft for episode 3 in my "Crawl" series. Once that's off to edits, I will still have episode 4 and 5 to start.

You know that empty feeling after you just finished a good book or series... That's what inspired me originally. I wanted to fill that void with my own story. So, I guess the short answer is: reading good books inspires me to write.

I was looking for a new book to read, and I was trying to pick a good vampire book. After sifting through piles and piles of shirtless vampires, I asked myself why there weren't more stories about a Nosferatu-type vampire. There are enough "pretty boy" vamps; where are the ugly grotesque types? I figured that I might as well try and write one, but it turned into something different with a more original backstory (I believe anyway).
