"South of Reason" was inspired by a feeling we all get sometimes that some things are "off" and we can't explain why. I wanted Sawyer's dilemma to be one from a past life that leaked into his present one. It prompted him to look into the matter further. Whether a person believes in reincarnation or not isn't really the focus, but it gives the reader something to think about.

I observe people and behaviors...that in itself gives me writing material. One thing I noticed about myself is I'm a deep thinker and like to challenge people's opinions. To me, nothing is either black or white. There is always a gray area and that is the part I like to explore and write about in my stories.

Right now I'm trying to find an agent. I self published and it's really a tough gig. I'd like "South of Reason" to be picked up by a traditional publishing company that will run with it. This would allow me much more time writing my next book project "Year of the Cat." I'd rather write than worry about all the promotion, but it all goes hand-in-hand.

Show, don't tell. It can be hard to do, but you don't want to explain what a character is doing, you want to show what a character is doing. Be descriptive and set the tone. The reader will automatically visualize the characters and scene, but they need a good prompt.

I can escape into my writing. Sometimes it's nice to spend the day with your characters and developing your story.

I write out of sequence. Whenever I have a "scene" in my head that I'm ready to write, I'll start typing away and then blend it into the rest of the story.
